Doing It All for God – Singles Devotional from 1 Cor. 10:31

Today, we want to talk about the purpose behind the things that we do in our lives and our dating lives. Let’s get into it!

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 10:31

When we’re volunteering, preaching, spreading the Gospel, going on mission trips, etc., it’s easy to remember that we’re doing all of these things for God. However, what about things like going on dates and searching for a spouse? These things are more for us, right?

Well, that’s the temptation, but in reality, everything that we do should be done for the glory of God. This means that while our dating lives will bring us personal joy, the entire process of finding a spouse should be done with the goal of glorifying God.

What does this mean for dating? Well, there are multiple ways to do this. First, by working hard to live like Christ in our dating lives, it gives us the opportunity to bless, inspire, and encourage other believers. Second, when we’re successful in finding a Godly man or woman to marry, it allows us to have someone we can do more powerful Kingdom work with. Third, a Godly partner can help to enrich our lives, help us to grow spiritually, and protect us from the sins and temptations of this world.

If your goal of dating is to find someone to fulfill those needs, you’re doing it right! But if your goal of dating is to cure loneliness or some ulterior motives other than the glorification of God, it may be time to take a break and take a deeper look at things.

  1. What is your true purpose for dating?
  2. Are there areas of that purpose or how you approach the process you need to look closer at?
