    I think typically, the sooner the better if the parties live in close proximity. It’s been my experience that emotional ties can be formed deeply and quickly when there isn’t the inherent inhibitions of talking face-to-face.

    It’s so much easier to share your thoughts and dreams with a virtual stranger through texts and emails than if you’re sitting across the table from someone navigating those first date jitters.

    It’s also easy to slip into pen pal territory where it’s safer emotionally to keep the relationship virtual and have the fun of companionship without the risk of real relationship.

    Having said that, you should have enough pre-date conversation to rule out psychotic or dangerous tendencies!

    If you’re getting to know someone long-distance, you may not have the luxury of meeting in person early in the process, but if you do live close to each other, take advantage!
