Today, we want to look at a fundamental truth of the Christian faith, and talk about how it applies to our dating life. Let’s get into it!
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23
At the core of our faith is the fact that we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Only one person who ever walked the earth was perfect. And thankfully He did because Jesus is the reason that we’re all able to be saved.
What we want to talk about today is the importance of remembering that we have all sinned. There is a temptation at times to look at the imperfections of others while forgetting that we too are sinners (Matthew 7:3-5). This temptation can lead us to feel superior to others which brings with it a whole host of other troubles.
When we’re approaching our dating life, it’s important to keep this notion in our minds. We have to be ready to approach those we encounter with grace and understanding that we’re all in the same boat here.
Now, we’re not saying that you should go out and date someone who is living a wild lifestyle or engaging in a sinful lifestyle that you’re not comfortable with. The Bible tells us not be unequally yoked (2 Corinthians 6:14), and that doesn’t just mean whether someone is Christian or not. What we are saying, though, is to make sure you’re not letting the imperfections of others make you think lesser of them.
Here’s the takeaway. We’re suggesting you make sure you’re looking at other people through a lens of grace. When you start to remember that we’re all the same in the fact that we all need Jesus, it can dramatically change the way we approach situations, interact with people, and live our lives.
